The first Outcast game was released in the previous millenniaand at the time, it received critical acclaim, citing its revolutionary 3D open-world. With its revival, Outcast 2: A New Beginning, it was imperative for us to know how we could push the boundaries across the audio department to continue being revolutionary. In this talk, Lennie Moore, Composer at 3l33t Music, and Pablo Diaz, Audio Lead at Demute, will discuss the challenges set for this new title and how we managed (or not) to tackle those challenges with our technical sound design and music design. We will then deep dive into two subjects that highlight this process. The first one is how we tackled more than two hours of cinematic content in a nonlinear way. The second is how we managed to have a distributed audio team technically and creatively very involved.
