
Outcast: A New Beginning is an open-world action-adventure game set on the alien planet of Adelpha, developed in Unreal Engine 4 with Wwise.
On this project, Demute acted as the full audio team, covering sound design, implementation, audio programming, voice production, cinematic audio, custom tool development and mixing. A key challenge was to define the audio identity of an entirely new planet and give a unique voice to its alien creatures while respecting the original IP. We also designed modular weapon systems, creatures, entire biomes, and optimizing audio for an open-world structure. We also had to deliver a very large amount of content with a small team, including the creation of an automation pipeline to process hundreds of thousands of dialogue lines.
